Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn wore number 19 for the San Diego Padres. Gwynn played his entire career, 20 years, with the Padres, unusual for this day in age with free agency. Gwynn had a lifetime batting average of .338, highest of any player after World War 2 and fourth highest in the "live ball" era. Gwynn was a 15 time All Star, a five time Gold Glove winner, and his 3,141 hits ranks him 18th on the all time hits list. Gwynn was elected to the HOF in 1997 (alongside Cal Ripken, Jr.) and received 97.6% of the votes. This is a scan of his 1993 card from my collection, and his number 19 has been retired by the Padres.

Yount played 20 seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, and collected more hits during the 1980's than any other player. His career hit total of 3,142 ranks him 17th on the all time hit list (one spot above Gwynn), and showing his versatility as an all around hitter, Yount hit for the cycle on June 12, 1988. Yount also ranks 17th on the all time doubles list with 583 two baggers. Yount's number 19 has been retired by the Brewers. This card is from 1976 and is part of my personal collection.
